Cape Town, 9 September 2023 – Trevor Noah's mother finds herself in a tax pickle and a not-so-funny solution gets proposed.

You can't go in and make a deal to wrangle your way out without looking like a Limpopo cattle dealer with connections in SARS and the Reserve Bank. A number of high level officials in The Department of Tourism and SARS will be required to compromise their ethics. This move is going to attract the attention of the IRS and the Financial Action Task Force, evaluation our Grey Listing.

Trevor let me make a suggestion:

You love South Africa as we do. No need to game our system. South Africa, under Greylist review, is not the time to be using your Government connections, mudding the waters and making our name "gat". Come clean on your mothers pickle. Pay the R 25 M, pay the penalties, pay the tax on the income you use to pay the back tax.

Yep Bru- you are in for North of R50 M, but it is a lot cheaper than having a prosecutor in the Southern District of New York make her reputation out of you.

Then - when you have made the payments, apply for a tax certificate, apply for a Tender at the Department of Tourism, soon you could be the Face of South Africa and we would be proud.
