Scene 1

Purpose of the scene
To give the historical background of the Cape of Storms and establish the local society as slave free. A mystic world governed by the Southern God Adamastor, not favourable to catholics. This is the scene that will be corrupted by our players and their destructive love.
Adamastor is portrayed as a giant Blue bottle. An unworldly Southern demon, who will become Catharina’s ally.
Most movies, open with an exposition of the Protagonist. We use a literary gimmick, borrowed from George Martin and the Tales of Westeroth. We open with an exposition of Viceroy Dom Franscisco Almeida, military head of the Portuguese Indian Slave Trade.
We establish him as a villain, - he’s an absolute Cunt . As the viewer you hate him so much you want to kill him.
We oblige and kill him in this opening scene. We establish that dislikeables can be killed, and in so doing we make the viewers our accomplices.
Directors Note
The colors reflect a Cape Town which has bright summers days, but has the green wetness than we usually associate with winter. This can be darkened to “Dutch Masters” in threatening moments. The key takeaway from this the rapid characterisation of Almeida, his killing and the introduction of Catharina as Narrator.
The extensive use of AI. Stamps the cinematic direction as AI enabled. This will have favopurable oputcomes for the production budget.
Musical Director’s Note
Opening bars of Egmont Overture. F Minor has sense of foreboding and history takes over the Cape. These will later be contrasted with the Sarabans in major keys. Ideally the Egmont should at least open realtime with the scene.
Producers Note
We introduce the notion of Costumes in the first visuals. Both Men and Women are vividly costumed. The Real Protagonist Catharina Ras is introduced as the Narrator. Her opening two costumes must be stunners and set up the fabric and cinematic tone for the series. The quality of the costumes and the lavishness of the sets is the dominant factor in making this movie, and in particular the setting of the budgets.
Executive Producers Note
We leave the door open here for Portuguese funding. The script can easily be modified to emphasise Lisbon over Portugal. This would give an opportunity to develop the history of seventeenth century Portugal and in particularly their colonial history.
The lavish costumes already set us up for product placements with luxury goods marketers.
The branding opportunities get leverage when they use and pay their faces to do cameo roles (AI assisted)
