Introduction

This option is used to open a Set of Books. The Set of Books must already exist in any available directory on your computer system or network. The list of Books that appear in the List box is a composite list of valid TurboCASH5 Sets of Books. Each Set of Books must be kept in a separate directory.

The composite list consists of firstly, all valid Sets of Books under the TurboCASH5 directory (or the directory where TurboCASH5 is installed) and secondly, additional Sets of Books that have been added to the list. (These would be Sets of Books that are in other directories, for example, on another part of the hard disk or somewhere on a mapped drive on the network).

To open a Set of Books:

1.On the Start ribbon, select Open Set of Books (Alt + O). The Set of Books screen is displayed:

2.Select the Set of Books which you would like to open.

3.Click on the Open button.

Browse

The Browse icon will allow you to add a Set of Books to the List.

To browse and add a valid TurboCASH5 Set of Books to the Set of Books list:

1.If you click on the Browse button, you may select from any other directory. The Browse for Folder screen is displayed.

2.You must pick a valid TurboCASH5 Set of Books. If the directory does not contain a valid Set of Books, it will not be added to the list.

TurboCASH is a Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (GAAP) compliant system. TurboCASH really makes accounting easy and produces financial reports, which understandable to every user of financial information. In addition to the standard Income statement, Balance Sheets and Trial Balances, you may also produce a host of other reports to manage your business activities and performance.

A basic understanding of accounting principles may be necessary to identify transactions and enter them in the correct accounts. Should you use the basic templates, which TurboCASH has installed, on your system, to create a Set of Books, your Set of Books will be set according to the Accounting principles.

Purge list

The Purge list icon will remove the highlighted item. This function does not delete the files from the directory. To delete files from a directory you must use Start → Delete Set of Books. You cannot Purge a Set of Books located in the TurboCASH5 Directory. To remove a Set of Books located in the TurboCASH5 directory, you will need to use Start → Delete Set of Books. If you wish to remove a Set of Books from the list, but keep the files, you need to move the whole Directory out of the TurboCASH5 directory using File Explorer or other file / folder management program.

If you click on the Purge icon, the following confirmation message will be displayed: "This will seriously affect your Set of Books! Are you sure you want to clear this Set of Books?"

Properties

The Properties icon will display the Name of the Set of Books (e.g. MYBOOKS) as well as the holding Directory for the Set of Books named in the list (e.g. C:\TCASH5\books\MYBOOKS\books.fdb).

1.If you select a Set of Books and click on the Properties icon, the following screen is displayed:

2.If you need to change any of the properties for the Set of Books, enter the following:

a)Enter the name of the Set of Books - Enter a valid name for the Set of Books.

b)Server - This works if TurboCASH5 is configured as a Multi-user product.

c)Enter the path where the Set of Books are stored - Enter the path (i.e. directory (folder) where the Set of Books is stored on your system.

d)Username - Enter a valid username for the Set of Books

e)Password - Enter a valid password for the Set of Books.

3.Once done, click on the Change button to save the changes and to exit or close this screen.

Add

If you click on the Add icon, the following two (2) options is displayed:

1.Select Set of Books directory - On this screen, you need to enter the name of the Set of Books, Server name, path, user name and password.

2.Creating Set of Books - Launch the Creation wizard (Start → Create Set of Books (F10)) on which you may create a set of books, copy a set of books, etc.

To change the Set of Books properties:

1.If you click on the Add icon, the following screen is displayed:

2.If you need to change any of the properties for the Set of Books, enter the following:

a)Enter the name of the Set of Books - Enter a valid name for the Set of Books.

b)Server - This works if TurboCASH5 is configured as a Multi-user product.

c)Enter the path where the books are stored - Enter the path (i.e. directory (folder) ) where the Set of Books is stored on your system.

d)Username - Enter a valid username for the Set of Books

e)Password - Enter a valid password for the Set of Books.

3.Once done, click on the Change button to save the changes and to exit or close this screen.
