Launching TurboCASH in Jamaica Lawrence Harriot Appointed as territory Agent.
Lawrence, owner of 2GNEC, a technology and education facility, will ensure that TurboCASH is localised for Jamaica and complies with all local requirements. He will also supply CDs, training manuals, training and technical support locally. Users can order these products off the TurboCASH Website and pay Lawrence locally.

Do I need Support?
Every effort is made to make TurboCASH as easy to use as possible. The majority of our users do not require support. However TurboCASH is a powerful accounting tool. In the hands of a non accountant (or even a qualified accountant) Garbage In will cause Garbage Out (GIGO). Also it is a database and is sensitive to breakage.
Please make regular backups of your data !!!

If you are not required to register for General Consumption Tax (GCT) (Turnover less than the GCT threshold, or do not register for GCT on a voluntary basis), you may also purchase the Accounting Made Easy version which does not include GCT.

There are a lot of exciting things happening in the open-source world, and TurboCASH is one of them. By becoming open source, TurboCASH is becoming the most popular accounting package available. And what a feature set (see bottom of TurboCASH homepage for a detailed comparison of TurboCASH with Simply Accounting, Peachtree and DAC Easy).

If you are a small to medium sized business, and particularly if you need an integrated Point of Sale System that is bar code ready; if you are already using an accounting package that does not fully meet you needs; a package that is expensive and you need to upgrade, or you are using a 'bootleg' (and therefore illegal) copy of any of the commercial accounting packages, YOU MAY WANT TO SWITCH TO TURBOCASH - RIGHT NOW ! TURBOCASH is a much wiser and cost effective choice in any of these and most other situations.

You already know that setting up an accounting package is unlike setting up any other application. Installing the software and configuring it to work with your hardware (if you have not bought a complete system) can be a lot of work. Then configuring all the features you use to work harmoniously together is still more work. But when it is all done and working correctly, its an absolute joy.

If you are not already using TurboCASH and you are running a business that can benefit from an accounting system, you may want to avoid attempting the setting up process yourself. That's where I come in. I'll install the software and provide training and technical support as well as an avenue to support TurboCASH by purchasing additional stuff from the company such as manuals, CD's and the like. Certainly, you would support a great company that has made this great product so easily available.

Files to be edited, translated / localised are included on the Country Page of your Country. Simply download them from your Country Page, unzip it and copy it to your TCASH installation directory.

The process is as follows:

  1. Edit the Country Main Page for your Country. This should include the details and contact information of territory agents, consultants, dealers / distributors, support, etc. This can be included as the Welcome screen in TurboCASH installations.
  2. We already have an Installation script file for German Media:German.isl
  3. In TurboCASH edit the language file of your Country. This is done in the Tools->Customise Language menu option. This can be exported as a comma separated value file and can be used for the documentation.
  4. Translate the Chart of Accounts for Germany - Add new Accounts, where necessary. Do the same for each Country listed.
  5. Tax Accounts - Edit the Tax Accounts - Pointers to be found under Heading Taxes and Websites / Resources for each Country listed.
  6. Translate Default.frf file for Invoices.
  7. Submit files to be included in the nest release.
  8. The translations / localisations will be included in the installation.

We regard the TurboCASH Documentation system as as big a project as TurboCASH itself. We have to make TurboCASH run in every market and every language for which there is a demand. This is a really interesting site for non programmers, who are nevertheless interested in taking on a technical task.

We have added Documentation pages which may be accessed from the Country Pages. Documentation needs to be customized for each Country using the following criteria:

  • Language - spelling rules, dialect, accounting terminology, tax terminology used in that country.
  • Set of Books - spelling rules, dialect, accounting terminology, tax terminology and Tax rates in the Chart of Accounts.

Documentation can be translated on the Wiki with ease. Interested persons can contact digidan@absamail.co.za for assistance.
